How to Care for Your Uroko Hat
Whether it’s a foam trucker, a five-panel, or a classic dad hat, the right care keeps it looking sharp and lasting longer. Here’s how to clean and store your Uroko hat the right way—without wrecking the fit or shape.
1. Skip the Washing Machine
Even if it’s tempting, don’t toss your hat in with your laundry. The spin cycle can crush the structure, especially on foam and high-profile truckers.
2. Spot Clean First
Use cold water, mild soap, and a soft cloth or brush. Dab and rub gently on stained areas. Always avoid bleach or strong detergents.
3. For a Deeper Clean
Fill a bowl or sink with cool water and a small amount of gentle soap. Let the hat soak for about 10 minutes. Gently scrub any dirty spots, then rinse well with clean water.
4. Air Dry Only
Never use a dryer. It can shrink fabric and melt foam. Instead, pat your hat dry with a towel and reshape it while it’s still damp. Let it air dry in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight.
5. Maintain the Shape
Stuff the crown with a small towel or shirt while it dries to help it keep its form. Foam truckers and structured styles especially benefit from this.
6. Store it Right
Keep hats off the floor and out of gear piles. Lay them flat or hang them on a hook. Avoid crushing them in bags or stuffing them in tight drawers.
Extra Notes for Each Fit Type
- Structured Adjustable Hats (like the Yellowtail Corduroy Hat): Keep the crown stuffed while drying. These hats keep their shape but need help after a soak.
- Unstructured Hats (like the Blue Striped Bass Hat): These dry easily and mold back to your head naturally. Still, avoid wringing or twisting them.
- Foam Trucker Hats: (like the Dorado Foam Trucker Hat): extra care. Foam panels bend and dent easily when wet. Clean them with minimal water and avoid pressure.
- Water-Resistant Trucker Hats: (like the Swell Water Resistant Hat): can take more abuse, but still need air drying. The structured bill will hold up if reshaped early.
Your hat says a lot about you. Keep it clean, store it smart, and it’ll keep showing up ready for anything—from long days on the water to slow mornings at the beach.
